When you buy refurbished technology from TechHaulers, you're getting equipment that has been carefully tested, cleaned, and verified before it reaches your hands. Here's what goes into every refurbished item we sell.
Our Refurbishment Process
1. Initial Assessment
Every piece of equipment that comes through our facility is evaluated for refurbishment potential. Items that are functional and have resale value move to our refurbishment desk, while non-functional items are recycled responsibly.
2. Data Sanitization
Before any testing or refurbishment begins, all storage media is completely wiped following NIST 800-88 guidelines. No data from the previous owner ever reaches a buyer — guaranteed.
3. Hardware Testing
Each device goes through a comprehensive testing checklist:
- Power-on test — Does the device boot and POST correctly?
- Component verification — CPU, RAM, storage, and other components checked and documented
- Stress testing — Extended run to identify intermittent hardware failures
- Port and connectivity testing — All ports, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other connections verified
- Display testing (laptops/monitors) — Screen checked for dead pixels, backlight issues, and color accuracy
- Battery health check (laptops) — Battery capacity and charge cycles assessed
- Peripheral testing — Keyboards, trackpads, webcams, speakers tested where applicable
4. Cleaning & Cosmetic Preparation
- External cleaning and sanitization
- Compressed air cleaning of internals (dust, debris)
- Cosmetic condition assessed and noted in the product listing
5. Software Setup
- Fresh operating system installation (where applicable)
- BIOS/firmware updates applied
- Device reset to factory-ready state
Condition Grading
Every item in our shop includes an honest condition description. Here's what our grades mean:
| Grade | Description |
|---|
| Like New | No visible wear. Looks and functions as if brand new. May include original packaging. |
| Excellent | Minimal signs of use. Very light cosmetic marks that don't affect functionality. Fully tested and working. |
| Good | Normal signs of use — minor scratches, scuffs, or wear marks. All functions tested and working properly. |
| Fair | Noticeable cosmetic wear (scratches, dents, discoloration) but fully functional. Great value option. |
